Welcome to Shanny's Creative blog spot. This is something I have been talking about creating for sometime and have finally started the process.

Why did I want to start a blog spot? To answer that question, let me first tell you about myself and why this is Shanny's Creative Spot.

My life consists of many different areas that include being creative: in addition to working full-time within the Marketing industry, I also enjoy scrapbooking, cooking and baking, gardening and canning the fruits and veggies from my garden, and so much more.

In addition to working as a Marketing and Sponsorship Advisor, I have been a billet mom since 2009 for Junior A hockey players for the Steinbach Piston hockey team. This is a great opportunity and an incredibly rewarding experience for my husband, Russ and I, as we get to meet new players and their families by providing a home away from home. We have made many great new friends over the years. As of 2017, we have had over 30 players come through our house. Some for just a few days, many for 1 or more years. For many of these players, this is the first time they have left home so billets play a huge part in their lives.

Supporting the Steinbach Pistons has been a huge part of our lives. Russ is involved with Game Day Operations and I am the Game Day Coordinator.

In my spare time, I also work part-time at The Scrapbook Cottage. I say this is to support my habit (love of scrapbooking). I enjoy helping people make their pictures comes to life and tell a story, so I'll be sure to share some of my projects with you here as well!

Through this blog, I want to share recipes that we and our players enjoy. I hope that in turn other billets can share some of their recipes. I also think it would be great to share tips on saving money in grocery shopping (perhaps you come upon a sale on meat an we can share with the rest of the billets). Or, if we are aware of an event the players are attending. Of course, those not in the Piston family are also free to enjoy the recipes.
